For Adults Struggling To Own Their Worth.

Trauma therapy & Music therapy in Hyattsville, MD

You want to feel confident and self-assured,

But deep down you constantly doubt yourself and how others perceive you.

  • Life has felt like one endless cycle of worry, stress, and managing other people’s expectations.

  • You are a colorful thinker, which means you may not see yourself as a poet, musician, or artist, but you’ve thrived in conditions that allow you to express yourself creatively (gardening, cooking, writing, etc.).

  • You need a therapist with lived experience who will honor your identity, meet you with empathy and humor, and be able to join you in the difficult experiences you’ve been holding in…

If this sounds like you, I want to help.

Hey there,

I’m Alison.

I'm a professional counselor and music therapist specializing in empowering creatively minded adults to reconnect with their body and sense of self worth. We'll use music, parts work, and mind-body awareness building to help you understand your lived experiences and release old patterns of shame, blame, guilt, and anxiety. I'll help you build more balanced routines that allow space for taking care of both your wellbeing and your responsibilities. Our work together will help you understand the roots of your dis-ease, build self-worth, and challenge long standing beliefs that no longer serve you.

I promise that as your therapist I will create a judgement free space that honors your identity. My services are affirming of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ lived experiences and I strive to utilize liberation/decolonial psychology frameworks. I have experience working with adults at every stage of life: young adulthood, midlife, and older adults.

Music Therapy

Music connects us back into ourselves. It speaks the language of our body and emotional self. Think of it as a more fun approach to somatic trauma therapy.

As a Licensed Music Therapist, I support people in using music and creative forms of expression (art, movement, poetry, etc.) to directly address stuck points and activating experiences. If you are not familiar with music therapy, it is the evidenced-based process of using music in all it’s forms (listening, playing, song writing, singing, etc.) to improve aspects of a person’s health, be it physical, cognitive, or emotional. You are not required to have any experience with music to participate in Music Therapy.

Whether you are seeking to overcome the lasting impacts of trauma, looking to explore your sense of self, or develop a greater experience of safety within your body, this specialized approach to body-mind healing will offer a fun and expansive way for you to deeply explore your own depths.
