Alison requires an active credit card number be held on file to meet for sessions. This is kept in a HIPAA secure platform called Simple Practice. She accepts all major credit cards (including HSA/FSA) and provides Good Faith Estimates to help you receive reimbursements through your Out Of Network (OON) benefits with insurance.

It depends on your insurance, and whether or not you have out of network (OON) benefits.
It is important to know that Your Tempo Healing is not an in-network provider with any insurance company, which means reimbursement from your insurance happens because you submit the claim.
Some insurance plans will reimburse you for costs related to attending therapy. Your Tempo Healing requires you pay all fees up front. However, if you choose this option, Alison can send you a monthly statement, called a Superbill, that you’ll submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Alternatively, Your Tempo Healing partners with a services called Mentaya who helps streamline the whole process. There is a small fee to use this service per claim, but Mentaya pretty much guarantees you will receive your reimbursement. You are welcome to ask Alison for more information if interested.

The first step is reaching out via Alison’s secure Inquiry Form. You will be able to see current availability and schedule your intake appointment & assessment from there. If you prefer to begin with a brief 15 minute call to ask more questions, that is also possible. Additionally, you’ll be asked to respond to a few questions that will help Alison make sure there aren’t any circumstances we wouldn’t be able to work together.
Alison will respond via email and confirm your intake appointment or inquiry call. If you’d be better served by another clinician, then she will provide a list of suggestions from her trusted network.
You will receive paperwork to complete no later than 24 hours in advance of your first appointment. Services are tailored to each client and this time is needed in order to review your responses and prepare for this first meeting.
The intake session is where you’ll really dive in and begin to build the foundation for our work. Alison will ask you questions about your personal history (including musical), important relationships, and what brought you to therapy as well as review any questions that came up for you as you filled out the paperwork.
It takes at least 3 sessions to find a rhythm. This is why Alison encourages new clients to schedule weekly, at least to begin with. We can always reassess and adjust frequency down as needed.
Alison generally meets with clients Tuesday- Friday between the hours of 10am- 2pm. Wednesdays are a later schedule, with openings between 1pm- 5pm.

Due to the nature of music-centered and creative expression oriented sessions, you are expected to join virtually from a comfortable, quiet, location free of distractions. For example, it isn’t appropriate to meet from your car.
You will be expected to have paper and writing supplies available as well as access to a music listening platform. It may also be essential to use ear buds or a headset. Art supplies may be suggested as we work together.

Yes! Although there are some limitations and adjustments we make to accommodate sharing music in the virtual space, there are still many ways to share and participate in music and other creative formats. Alison has been offering music psychotherapy virtual since 2019 and has multiple work arounds for making the music space as enjoyable and rewarding as an in-person appointment.

Nope! Music Psychotherapy is all about the process and not at all about the product (although sometimes the product can be very meaningful too). There is no previous experience required and no expectation that you bring your own instruments or have competence in any areas of music. Just come with an open heart and desire to get curious about your internal world.
